We did what they said and took the road less traveled...now where the heck are we?

Just for fun...
I saw this picture on Facebook and thought it was hilarious. You just know the guy is telling those women to smile!!
Why we are behind...
I haven't been as good about updating my blog as I like to. Adam and Shane have both been sick, and that doesn't leave much time for anything else. Shane seems to be on the mend, whereas Adam seems to be getting worse, not better. We took him in for the 3rd time in 3 weeks to have him checked out. He has a cough, swollen tonsils, runny nose, fever, and a tendency to be extra clingy to Mommy. Most of his symptoms went away during the week - he actually went to school on Tuesday. However, it is all back - which means he is extra cranky. He also isn't getting much sleep at night or during his nap - which is why he slept late on Thursday. He was up every hour on the hour Wednesday night until around 4:00 AM; he then slept until 8:30! We left the doctor today with antibiotics (they said he had a ear infection), so hopefully that will do the trick. Stay tuned....
Adam and Robert
I offered to have Robert come over and play when Samantha had to take Catrina to a birthday party. The boys play very well together, although they both still have trouble sharing. No worries, though, we have enough toys to go around, so distraction is usually the key to breaking up any tiffs. He showed up with an Australian flag on his face. Apparently, "Australia day" is Saturday (today, in fact), so the school had a face-painter for the kids (the school he attends is Aussie-run). Adam actually missed school that day due to sleeping late (see above post), so he didn't boast the same face art...lucky me!

Ray's Reef
Nearly every mall in Doha has an indoor play area for kids. There is a new one that my friend Samantha and I wanted to check out. The kids had a great time, and Emma slept like a....baby! Imagine that! She was very sweet sleeping in the blanket that Nini made her. The kids mainly played in the soft play area, which was hard to see from the sidelines. That can make it difficult to take pictures, but I did my best.

Wash me!!!
This is what happens to cars after a few days of rain. All the cars here now have this layer of dirt all over them. And I haven't been off-roading! This is just from driving on normal roads in the rain. Lovely, I know. I am ready for the rain to stop. It was great for the first day, but now the novelty has worn off and now the city is just a big mud hole. I think we get a break for now, but it might return next week.
Macaroni Grill!!
Yea!!! We now have a Macaroni Grill! We have been waiting on it to open for months, so of course when we saw that Tuesday was the Grand Opening, we just had to go. Adam enjoyed the fried cheese, of course! It was loud (they had live music) and crazy since it was the Grand Opening, but the food was good (and something we have been missing from home).

Flooding in Qatar

It does rain in Qatar!
I know I haven't been posting anything exciting, but it has been kind of dull around here. Shane and Adam have both been a little under the weather, so we haven't been too many places or done too many things.
The big news around here is the weather: it started raining on Friday and hasn't stopped! I heard it is supposed to keep raining through the middle of the week. The temps have stayed in the 50s, but there is a rumor it might get into the 40s this week!

Brrrrr!
It is COLD out today! I noticed the wind blowing like crazy yesterday and last night and it was definitely cooler yesterday evening. This morning when Adam and I got into the car to go to Music class it was 11C! That is approximately 50F. I know, it doesn't seem that cold - but it is to us here - we are freezing!
Also - we have a bit of "winter wonderland" going on as well. Well, not exactly. The haze is actually sand, not snow, but it is as close as we will get!
When you think they can't get any uglier

The Doha Zoo
Yes, Doha has a Zoo. It isn't the best Zoo I have ever been to, but I have to say it is nice and peaceful - which beats going to the Houston Zoo anyday!
Today is my brother's last day here, and we decided to take Adam to the Zoo. One thing Joseph noticed was how good you can see the animals. The zebras actually came right up to the fence where we were - we could have pet them if we wanted to!
