Going Green

Kelly and Adam

Trees are getting their leaves!

Picking wildflowers

I can't believe how fast everything is turning green!  It's only been a few weeks since there was snow on the ground, and already the grass is turning green and the trees are sprouting their leaves.  До свидания, Зима!  (Goodbye, Winter!)

The Jungle Dance

Here is the video of the school play.  His part starts at 1:45.  He was so proud of himself!  I hope you enjoy it just as much as we did!

School Play

This past Friday Adam was in a school play put on by the Nursery and Primary 1 kids.  Adam was a blue parrot.  He was so cute and so proud of himself.  My photos didn't turn out all that well, but it's better than nothing I guess.  I also took a video of his performance, so I will post that next.  I have been told that the school will be selling DVDs of the show, so I will make sure and purchase one and bring it home when we come this summer.

What is May Without Snow?

Well, we thought Spring was here, but Winter came back to visit for a day.  On Thursday, May 14, we had yet another snowstorm.  My friend Dee took this picture, and I love it, so I "borrowed" it from her for this post.  The snow stopped in the afternoon and was all melted before the sun went down, so it was back to normal the next day.  Hopefully, we are done with the snow for a while...I have been loving the Spring weather!

Mother's Day BBQ

Who needs snow?  The kids still love "sledding" down the hills

It's an avalanche of kids!

Playing rings (it actually has another name, but I can't remember)

Gathered around the firepit

This year, Mother's Day weekend was also Victory Day weekend for Russia.  It was a 3-day weekend for us, so we took advantage by having a BBQ Sunday afternoon.  Thankfully, the weather was beautiful.  The kids had a blast "sledding" down the hill by the house on a cardboard box.  The men were in charge of the food, so of course we had steaks on the grill.  It was a great day!

Spring is Here!

Finally, Spring has arrived in Sakhalin!  It is still pretty chilly compared to Spring in Texas, but we'll take it.  Adam had completely outgrown his bicycle from last year (he grew almost 4 inches since last spring!), so we got him a bigger one.  Now he rides almost everyday!  I am thankful that we live on the cul-de-sac because the kids can play down here without worrying about traffic.  In fact, most of the neighborhood kids gather down here to play also.  It is just so nice to be able to sit outside without it being hot, humid or sandy and watch the kids play and laugh!

T-Ball Video

"That's a WONDERFUL one!"

Summer, is that you?

Thursday was a really nice day.  The temps got up to 65F!  No jackets required!  It was so nice outside, so Kate and I got the kids outside to play.  They rode bikes and played t-ball.  Adam really liked t-ball.  He has been trying to go back outside and do it again, but it has been rainy and cold since.  I also have a video of him hitting the ball....I will try and post it next, but if I can't figure that out, I will let you know where I put it....

Batter up!

It's a hit!

Buster and Brinkley enjoyed the weather, too...

But then Brinkley got too hot I guess....he went and found some snow to lay on

What a Difference a Few Days Makes!

Our house the day after the snowstorm, April 23....I think I took this same pic in December?

Now that's more like it....2 days later
